SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:

Responsible for providing psychotherapy with children, youth, and young adults residing in Specialized Foster Care at St. Jude’s Ranch for Children or Housing and Support Services Program and assisting with the coordination of program services within the Clinical Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills.

  • Provide psychotherapy as a licensed clinical therapist (QMHP). Psychotherapy will consist of the implementation of evidence-based practices.
  • Complete clinical assessments, screenings, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and prior authorizations if required.
  • Collaborate with client’s treatment team to enhance continuity of care.
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations, contract/grant requirements, and organizational policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to clinical operations.
  • Participate in regular supervision and training as required.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

  • Child development stages and milestones.
  • Theories and evidence-based practices in the treatment of children, youth, young adults, and their families.
  • Assessment, screening, treatment planning, intervention, discharge planning, and evaluation.
  • Professional ethics and code of conduct.
  • Client documentation and maintenance of electronic medical records.
  • Computer applications related to the work.
  • Federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to clinical operations.
  • Medicaid Chapters 400 and 4000.

Skill in:

  • Interviewing/assessing, treatment planning, and implementing appropriate interventions.
  • Creating, composing, and editing professional written materials including assessments, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and other reports.
  • Maintaining accurate case records.
  • Communicating effectively in oral and written forms.
  • Following protocols and taking calm and effective action in emergency or crisis situations.
  • Maintaining the safety and security of children, youth, and young adults.
  • Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
  • Interpreting, applying, and explaining federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations related to clinical activities and services.
  • Customer service, active listening, and good interpersonal skills.
  • Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team goals, objectives, and activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Therapist must meet the requirements of a QMHP through Nevada Medicaid. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and Experience:

  • Incumbent must hold a master’s degree with a Nevada clinical license in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Clinical Mental Health Counseling and meet the requirements of a QMHP through Nevada Medicaid.
  • Minimum two years post graduate experience providing psychotherapy services and diagnostic assessments.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.

  • Nevada driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance.
  • CPR and First Aid training within six (6) months of date of hire.
  • $3,000,000 professional liability insurance for QMHP.
  • QMHP must be a Nevada Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable

Mobility to work in a clinical office setting; use of standard office equipment; drive a motor vehicle; stamina to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time; strength to lift and carry up to 60 pounds unassisted and up to 120 pounds or more with assistance; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Possibility of injury when lifting moving, or interacting with youth or objects, if employee fails to use proper body mechanics, or if proper techniques are not used when the use of SAMA restraint techniques are required. Given the nature of working with children who have been abused, neglected, and/or exploited, the work environment can be somewhat stressful and emotionally challenging.

Campus is smoke-free. The possibility of exposure to blood borne pathogens exists, if universal precautions are not followed.
